Our Modifications to the Cupboard Space

Having now had our 3023 Trailmanor since Aug 06, I had spotted in the Trailmanor Owners Group a photo of a modification to the cupboard space between the oven and the drawers under the wardrobe that had some wooden drawers fitted inside the existing cupboards. We thought this was a great idea and started looking around to see what was available that could be used and came up with the "elfa wardrobe storage system baskets".

I used the No 1 and No 2 size baskets using  roller draw slides for the larger baskets size. This meant I had to shrink the width of the basket by 10-12 mm to fit in the cupboard opening but this was quite easily done by just cutting the outer rail and closing the basket up and pop riveting to the correct width. Photos below show how I cut the basket and riveted the outer rail and the runners on. The cupboard sides  were not parallel so the bottom basket was 2 mm narrower than the top. The shelf in the right hand cupboard was removed to allow for the second basket.

For the smaller baskets I used the elfa mounting kit as shown below. This allowed the basket to fit the cupboard without altering.

The photos of the finished fit out as it is at the moment  are below.

Photos below show some of the extra packers required to mount rails for the larger baskets and the cupboard door ready to be refitted.

The space below the bottom large basket is used to store tined foods. We often go freedom camping away from power etc so additional tinned supplies can be handy.

A small chain has been fitted to the back of the small baskets with a clip to stop them from being pulled out too far and falling to the floor.  The larger baskets with the rollers have a stop built in, although if pulled too hard they could come out.
