Issues with ourTrailmanor
Norcold Fridge
I had problems with the Norcold Fridge in our trailmanor not working properly on
gas. The fridge would run okay sometimes and not others. The flame failure
sensor seemed to be the problem as when the button to start the flame was
released the flame would go out soon after.
The problem was eventually traced to the selector switch contacts for the gas
flame out circuit.
Contact G3 & W3 were not always making a good connection, these contacts are low
voltage and low current. This was proven by by connecting the 2 wires together
using a 6.3mm piggy back terminal and running the fridge on gas without any
further problem and proved that the thermocouple was working.
After using for a few trips the problem came back
After working on this problem on & off over 12 months I finally found a
service bulletin from Norcold on the issue.
I think after reading this bulletin that by cutting off the existing QC
terminals and fitting new ones will solve the problem permanently and may have
nothing to do with the contacts in the switch as first thought. Replacing
terminals has worked for over 3 months so I am hopeful I have fixed it.
Here is the fault finding procedure
bulletin which details the steps required to test the flame failure circuit.
Another problem I have experienced is a build up of dust & dirt
on the top of the LPG burner. This made it very hard to get the flame to ignite
and when it did the fridge did not get very cold. When looking in the
inspection flap at the back of the fridge, which is accessed by removing the
lower air vent, the flame was yellow instead of blue.
Upon removing the burner as in the service manual
and cleaning all worked well. This could probably be cleaned using a small
stiff bristle bottle bush with wire handle so it can be bent to get behind
the large tube you can see after moving the metal cover. 1 screw holds the cover in
place
Trailmanor Bumper Locker
We had the bottom of this locker fall away on the a recent trip,
letting a spade & axe fall out on the road. Fortunately no vehicles were close
behind at the time. Extra screws were put in along the front edge, 3 times
the number that were there as they only fasten into the aluminum skin and Tek
screws into the chassis with large washers. I have also had the Trailmanor
wheels balanced since this as advised by another owner.
The 2 outer corner boxes worked loose too, so extra screws and tek screws have
been added as well as some bolts to hold the 2 plastic moulds together.
Stays on front & rear Shutters
The bolts on the stays for locking the shutters up were loose
when we picked up the van
and it was extremely difficult to tighten or loosen the wing nuts to adjust the
shutters. I
fixed this by removing the stay , drilling out the small dimple to allow the
stay to be disassembled. I then drilled and tapped a new hole for the bolt and
reassembled with a dab of loctite.
No more trouble has been experienced since.
Roof Vent Leaking
On my last trip we had problems with the second vent from the
front of the Trailmanor leaking. Check out here
what I did to fix it. I guess it will only be time till the other vents leak if
they had a similar skimpy application of sealer.
Yes you guessed right, the front vent leaked an had to be removed and have the
same done to it.
