On the road 3 Days after our purchase in Mid 2006

Floor Plan
Having just recently purchased our trailer we have been busy doing small modifications both inside and out.
One of the first thing to acquire were the steps for access to the main bed. We used our chilly bin for the first couple of nights knowing that small steps or a stool was needed, and after much looking around we found these folding steps in Mitre 10. They are also handy outside during the day and for setting up the privacy room .
A Solar panel was one of the next things to add. After looking around and measuring up the available roof space behind the TV aerial, an 80 watt panel was decided upon with a Xantrex C12 controller. This controller was chosen to use with the panel as the trailer has a 70Ah deep cycle wet cell battery at the moment and I want to be able to replace it with an AGM 150Ah when it requires replacing. The controller is fully adjustable and 3 stage so allows for this in the future.

The panel was mounted as shown in the photo above with the 6mm wires going down inside the seal and following the existing wiring using cable ties, down the lift arm to the cavity at the back of the fridge & entering up through the same duct as the existing wiring. From here the wire was run into the cupboard under the sink and then drawn through the floor duct under the bathroom floor to the cavity behind the switch board. The controller was mounted just above the 110v Switch board. This took some time to get the wire concealed but was worth it in the end. The connections from the solar panel are sealed and tucked in the cavity behind the plastic trim on the corner. Photo shows wire hanging out where the corner trim would normally be.
An adaptor for the levelling jacks was made to fit in a
cordless drill so that the jacks could be run up & down quickly,
then using the handle supplied for the final level up
We purchased a Fiamma privacy room for the wind out a awning in early 2007.
This certainly makes a lovely sheltered area for those days
that are breezy,
and can be used with the front left off or an end.
The door can also be positioned at either end of the front panel
Some of the Modifications that I have done are listed below.
A portable waste tank was acquired so that longer freedom camping trips can be
done and modified to connect to the waste system.
A hose storage tube was also
added under the van.
Extra LED lights were experimented with in the existing light fittings and we
decided to add 2 recessed lights in the roof.
These work very well and have low power consumption.
Pull out baskets were added to the cupboards between the cooker and the drawers below the wardrobe
Load leveller springs have been added to tow vehicle with pleasing results.
